How did I come to know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior?

Who was the person who led me to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ?

Course it was the Holy Spirit working through Toots. Here's my story:

I was a happy child and grew up in a loving family, along with my sister who is three years younger than I am. (Although we didn't attend church when we were growing up, we did attend on Easter Sunday. My grandfather was a Methodist minister in the Austin, San Antonio area. I grew up believing in God and Jesus and my family and I joined First Methodist in Shreveport, Louisiana, when I was 14.)

By the time I was 30, my husband and I were married and had our two wonderful sons, Frank Jr. and Clint. I was finding it hard to cope with daily life. My mother was concerned; she feared I was going to have a nervous breakdown. She took me to see our family doctor who told me I was going to have to learn to cope with life and would not give me anything to help me do that.

The boys were getting older and I felt convicted that they should be in Sunday School. Either my husband (Frank) or I would drop them off for Sunday School at Southmont Methodist Church in Houston. Frank Jr. was in Toots George's SS class. She would come by the house to encourage us to come to church with the boys. There was something different about Toots. At first I didn't know what it was, but as time went by, I realized the Holy Spirit was living inside of her.

My mother was in a Bible Study; she told me that the ladies were praying for me. Why I wondered? I sure am glad they were!

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

One day, at home, I felt a knocking on the door of my heart! I didn't answer it. It wasn't long before I felt the knocking on my heart again! This time I opened the door of my heart and asked Jesus to come in!

I repented of my sins and God forgave me. I was a new person; I was saved! Jesus became my Lord and Savior forever! Thanks be to God! The journey began and it has been incredible. Our sons accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior at an early age. It was 20 years before Frank was saved. He is with Jesus now! Hallelujah!

As the song goes, "walking and talking with Jesus all along the way," has been an awesome experience. Knowing the Lord is always with me and my family, loving us, watching over us, protecting us and guiding us is such a blessing! We have eternity in heaven with Him to look forward to when we will all be together again! What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see!" God is so good! His mercy endures forever!
