Most countries use a 220- to 240-volt current for
electrical outlets (the U.S. has 110-volt outlets). First,
we recommend that you examine your appliances to determine
if they can be used with 220-240 volts. If the appliance
can safely tolerate the higher voltage, you will require a
plug adapter that will allow you to plug into a wall
socket. If your appliance cannot handle the alternative
power source, you can try a power converter. North America
and Central American countries typically have 110-volt,
type A prong outlets that do not need an adapter. However,
they rarely have three pronged outlets, so if your
appliance has three prongs, you will need an adapter.
To be safe, you can purchase one adapter that can be
used in multiple countries with multiple configurations.
